USVI head coach Neville Hodge and his BVI head counterpart Dag Samuels, will attend today’s track and field’s technical meeting at 10 a.m. to make their final declarations. Seeding for the competitions will be available by Thursday for Friday’s events, indicating the respective heats the Virgin Islands’ sprinters will be in for the 100 meter events.

Samuels, a member of the Central American and Caribbean Track and Field Technical Committee said such things as ensuring that dates and times for events are correct, as well as submission of names will be on today’s meeting which he expects will last about an hour.

“We will not find out until two days before the event how many heats there’ll be in the first round or who will be in that event and what lane they will be in,” he explained. “Entries for Friday’s events will be submitted today so that they can begin to deal with them. The entries for the Shot Put which begins on Wednesday would have already been submitted because those are the very first events and won’t be held at Olympic Stadium but another venue. Every day after that, entries will be submitted for events two days in advance. But, basically, the meeting is just to give an overview of what will happen over the next 10 days.”

Samuels also attended a coaching clinic in downtown Athens on Monday. Meanwhile, Hodge attended a walk through session at the Olympic Stadium facility on Monday afternoon to familiarize himself and his sprinters with the procedures and the location of the two warm up tracks. While practices have been on the Olympic Village warm up track, Olympic Stadium is available for training from today.

Jones and Durant are expected to practice on the facility at 1 p.m. today, while Crabbe will practice starts at the Olympic Village track around 8 p.m. tonight.
