Russ Penn Selected as Chef de Mission for YOG

TORTOLA – The BVI Olympic Committee has selected Stephanie Russ Penn to serve as Chef de Mission for the Inaugural Youth Olympic Games next year. The Games will be staged in Singapore between August 14 and 26, 2010.

Russ Penn is a former BVIOC Executive member, serving as the organization’s Athletes’ Representative from 2006-08. She has been a member of the BVI Athletics Association board for the past seven years, holding the position of General Secretary since 2004.

Russ Penn has been continuously involved with athletics since her childhood. After high school, she attended the University of Arizona, where she competed in the 400m and 800m disciplines. Though she competed for the Wildcats for five seasons (1993-1998), having red-shirted her freshman year, she studied at the institution for two more years to complete her Masters in Physiological Sciences. In addition to her graduate degree, she holds a Bachelors degree in Health Sciences.
