—Defending BVI Amateur Volleyball Associations women and men’s champions ‘n Motion and Terminators continued their respective unbeaten streaks with straight set weekend victories over Set It Off and Young Guns.

Women’s champs 'n Motion defeated Set It Off, 25-15, 25-16 and 25-22. Melissa Amey and Ivy Cameron scored 15 and 14 points respectively. For Set It Off, Dinia Peters and Tamisha Georges had their top scores of 17 and 13 points respectively.

“My players are veterans and when we come out here to play the teams that are perceived to be the tougher teams, we continue to improve our game and play what we are supposed to play, which is good defense and good offense,” explained coach Roy Barry. “I wanted to see how my players would react to stiffer competition and I must say that they reacted very well. They were all over the floor picking up all the balls that were dinked and I think that was very impressive.”

Stephen Payne said it was one of the better games that Set It Off has played, despite the unfavorable outcome. “As the game progressed we got better,” he noted. “Obviously, ‘n Motion is more experienced, more cohesive, while Set It Off is trying to build a team. By the end of the second round, we should be playing much better and give them a better fight.”

On Saturday, 'n Motion downed Up and Coming 24-11, 25-5 and 25-17. Amey and Mary Fahie had the high scores of 17 and 12 points respectively. Rogelle Edmundson and Kenisha Powell scored 7 and 6 points a piece for Up And Coming.

Raw Power cruised to a straight set 25-11, 25-6 and 25-5 triumph over Termin' x. Player of the game Celine Alphonso and Tasha Creese scored 14 and 13 points respectively, for Raw Power. Misha Walters and Jakrema Charles had four points each for Termin' x.

In the lone men’s game, Damian Creque scored 16 points and Osbert “Cusung” Pole and Abraham Tarabay added 11 each, to lead Terminators past Young Guns to a straight set 25-13, 25-11 and 25-17 victory. Troy Caesar and Dion Anselm had Young Guns’ top sores with nine and eight points respectively.
