TORTOLA—Defending BVI Amateur Volleyball Associations Terminators and ‘n Motion, retained their respective men and women’s crowns, with 4-1 Friday night victories. For Terminators, it was their record 13th crown. “We said we would hit them three straight, but we never said how,” player-coach, Elswort Phillip said, moments after pulling out a 22-25, 25-19, 25-15 and 25-16 triumph. “So we hit them from behind. But, Terminators as a team, first of all we are friends. A lot of us have been playing for a while with the addition of one or two. So, friendship is the strength of this team.”

TORTOLA—Raw Power and Jus Bless advanced to the BVI Amateur Volleyball Association championship games on Friday at the Multipurpose Sports Complex, with victories over Termin ‘x and Young Guns on Sunday night. Raw Power pushed past the young Termin ‘x squad, 25-11, 25-12 and 25-18 for another crack at ‘n Motion, to whom they lost in last year’s championship series. “I think we need to play together. We need to take the easy opportunities, the easy balls that come over and turn them into plays,” reasoned coach Dwayne “Para” Rubaine, who will play in the men’s championship game with Jus Bless against Terminators.

TORTOLA—A week after Young Guns dismissed Jus Bless as a contender for the BVI Amateur Volleyball Association championships title and predicated they would be facing defending champs Terminators, Jus Bless brought them down to reality.
Player-coach Neville Bratwaithe said that based on history and statistical data, Young Guns—who became the first defending champs to ever miss the playoffs after winning the 2006 crown—would face 12 time champs Terminators, comments that didn’t sit well. Prior to the remarks, Terminators setter Osbert “Cushung” Pole, made comments that infuriated Jus Bless.
