TORTOLA – Exactly four months from today is the opening of the Inaugural Caribbean Games in Trinidad & Tobago.
The British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee will be sending a contingent that includes competitors from both Athletics and Tennis.
Athletics will be led by reigning CAC Games 100m Champion Tahesia Harrigan. She was the BVI’s flag bearer at the 2008 Olympics and, despite running with a foot injury, posted the fastest non-qualifying time during the quarterfinals in Beijing. Harrigan also garnered a bronze medal at the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain.
Tennis will be led by BVI Lawn Tennis Association President Dion Anslem. Though lacking the stature and reputation of an athlete such as Harrigan, he hopes for a good showing. Anslem also sees the event’s potential to be a great learning experience for the young tennis players who are competing.
