TORTOLA—Keron Stoute—who represented the BVI at last years Leeward Islands Jr. Championships where he helped the 4 x 100 meter relay team break a 31-year old record—displayed his versatility in leading Manchester High School to the title in the 66th Hartford Public High School Invitational on Saturday in Connecticut. Stoute scored 18 of his team’s 30 points in helping them to land the competition.
The versatile Stoute—a Manchester senior—sprinted to third place in the 55 meters in 6.67 seconds, after finishing third in his preliminary heat in 6.77. Stoute then collected additional points on the track when he sped to 36.36 seconds, to finish third overall in the 300 meters.
Not to be outdone, he went over to the High Jump and collected his third 3rd place finish of the meet after clearing the bar at 6 feet 2 inches, to rack up his 18th point of the day.
Late in December, Stoute broke the High Jump meet record at the New Haven Invitational, when he soared the bar at 6 feet 6 inches. He also won the 55 Meters dash in 6.62 seconds, and anchored the 4 x 400 meter relay with a 51.3 seconds split on the 200 meters track.
The Manchester senior will see his next action on Jan 16-17, at the Yale Invitational. He will tackle the 55 and 300 meters as well as the High Jump.
