Young Legs Blow out Bad Boys, 75-60

TORTOLA
—Young Legs defeated the Bad Boys 75-60, at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Road Town, highlighting Saturday night’s BVI Basketball Federation feature game.

Young Legs, the 2006 senior division champs, used a 17-7 third quarter run en route to pinning a second successive loss on the Bad Boys who opened the season by losing to the East.

Jason Edwin had 16 points and Kennedy Bass followed up with 14 to lead Young Legs. Trevorn “Reese” Lewis and Trevor “West” Stevens, added 10 points to the tally respectively. Bad Boys’ Marlon Meyers finished with 15 points, to go with eight rebounds and five assists. Eustace “Boss” Freeman and Nathaniel “Nat” Malone, follow up with 12 a piece.

The new look Guns were out of synch before finally putting it together in the fourth quarter where they had a 26-19 edge, to beat the Latinos 81-72. The Guns trailed 20-9 in the opening quarter, before using a 27-16 run to end the half tied at 36-36. St. Thomas’ Calvert White led the way with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Houston Penn narrowly missed a double double with 17 points and nine boards. Steve Parillon and Cedric Smith contributed another 13 and 10 points to the final score.

Andy Ramirez paced the Latinos with a 29 point 12 rebound double, double. Sandy Nadal tossed in another 24.

The Finishers blew a 26 point, 51-24, halftime lead, then hanged on to beat Against Da Odds by two, 90-89. Phillip Glasgow narrowly missed a triple double with 22 points, 15 boards and nine steals. He also had six rebounds and six blocks. Nicola Charles and poured in another 22 and 18 points each. Nikos Penn led Against Da Odds with 22 points. Glenroy Charles had 19 points and pulled 18 off the glass. Jason Dunkley finished with 16 points to go with eight steals and five assists.

Other games on the weekend were a series of blow outs. Another Level whipped All Ball, 99-27, Kimahni Walker led five scorers in double figures with 14 points. Norvin Smith followed up with 13. Glen Lamothe was All Ball’s only scorer in double figures with 14.

Daryl George had 21 points as Off Da Chainz rolled over Squad Up, 70-31. Roger Farrington   led Squad Up with 12.

Former champs And One had five scorers in double figures during a runaway, 93-37, whipping of Wolf Pack. Ryan Mills settled for an 18 point 10 rebounds double in leading And One. Dequan Bryan added 15 points, to go with seven rebounds, six steals and four assists. Wolf Pack’s Kamal Brown, scored 10 points and snatched 14 rebounds.
