TORTOLA—With everyone talking about the perceived ‘power shift’ to the western division of the BVI Basketball Federation league with players moving from Young Legs to the Guns, coach Brian “Bash” Brewley, said  Young Legs is still the team to beat.

“We’ve added some youth to the Legs after the season we had last year,” Brewley said. “The old guys aren’t going to be there all the time so you have to start molding the younger ones to replace these guys. I don’t want to fall in the category of the East Rockers or Disciples that had all old players. They never phased them out so I’m starting to replace now.”

With the new look, Brewley said he’s coming with a team full of energy and up-temp games. They are coming back for the crown this season, he said. “I know what happened to me last year and I’m not looking for excuses,” he said of his Young Legs’ failure to defend its title after being eliminated by the Bad Boys.

“Clearly the Guns have a nice team—on paper. They have to come out and play now and I’m ready for the action. I’m not going to prepare them for mid season, I’m going to peak them early this year. Young Legs is the team to beat,” he assured. “Plain and simple.”
