Rams Outslug Defending Champs Warriors

TORTOLA
—Kennesha Powell fired a two hitter, as the Elmore Stoutt High School Rams pulled off their second successive victory of the BVI Softball Association Arnold “Foxy” Barronville league, with Sunday’s 18-12 triumph over defending women’s champions West End Warriors.

 

For their 18 runs, the Rams collected 15 hits, committed 3 errors and left 6 runners on base. The Warriors 12 runs came with 2 hits, 9 errors and 6 base runners stranded. Daphne Smith took the loss.

 

 Powell was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Jelaine Penn had a 3-for-3 game and scored three times. Rogelle Edmonson homered on a 2-for-4 night. She scored 3 times and drove in three.

Roxi Romney and Pacha Stoutt collected the Warriors two hits and scored one and two runs respectively.

 

The Panthers remained as the only winless team in the women’s division, following a 22-11 loss to the Lady Braves, who had 7 hits, 0 errors and 8 left on base. The Panthers’ 11 runs were on 8 hits, 1 error and 4 left on base. Pearline Scatliffe picked up the win in relief of Laura Issac. Celine Thomas took the loss after relieving Kemesha Bratwaithe.

 

Issac homered as part of a 3-for-4 night. She scored 4 times and had 5 RBIs. Sherna Robinson finished 2-for-3, scored three times and drove in three.

 

Brathwaite was the Panthers’ leading hitter after going 3-for-3 including a homer. She scored 3 times and finished with 5 RBIs. Thomas had a 2-for-2 game with 2 runs batted in.

 

In the men’s game, the Reds blew an 11-3 lead before breaking an 11-11 tie in the sixth inning with five runs for a 16-11 victory over the Braves. The Reds had 18 hits, 8 errors and left 8 on base. The Braves collected 8 hits, committed 6 errors and left 11 base runners stranded.  Delvin “Bopper” Jennings picked up the victory in relief of Elwyn Barry and Darel Robinson.

 

Sirron Scatliffe who relieved Lionel Hodge was the losing hurler. Lloyd Jackson finished with 4 hits in 4 at bats. He scored three times and had three runs batted in. Kalif Henley had a 3-for-4 night including a homer, two runs scored and three runs batted in.

Braves’ Clifford “Poppa D” Daniel was 2-for-4, scored twice and drove in a run. Rafael Solomon collected two hits in five trips to the place. He scored two times and drove in two.
