KHALDLF HENLEY, REDS, MALE SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK MAR 16
TORTOLA—St. Thomas’ Kahlif Henley slugged a one out grand slam in their last at bat on Saturday, to complete the Reds’ stirring six run seventh inning comeback against Young Talent, for their stunning 7-6, opening victory in the Arnold “Foxy” Barronville Softball league on Tortola.
The Reds entered their final at bat against Young Talent’s Allen “Woodrow” Smith who fanned 12 in the season opener against the Hurricanes—trailing 6-1, before Henley’s heroics. Henley said he was looking for another chance to bat and was talking about it with teammate Lloyd Jackson, saying if either got a chance to bat, the game would end.
“And it came through,” noted Henley of his only hit and 4 RBIs on the night. “Really and truly, I was looking for something off speed, because I picked up his sequence. He did not change his sequence on the two batters before that so I was still looking off speed.”
